We're a small residential design-build studio in Austin, focused on gardens that hold up — structurally and aesthetically — for decades, not just for the photographs taken the week they're finished.
Built by a mason and a landscape architect.
Willow & Stone was founded in 2014 by two people who kept running into the same problem from opposite directions: landscape plans that looked beautiful on paper but were nearly impossible to build well, and stonework that was built beautifully with no real design behind it.
So they started a studio that does both under one roof — design and construction, carried by the same small team from the first site visit to the last plant in the ground.

Design for the site you have
Central Texas gardens live or die on how well they handle thin soil, long summers, and the occasional hard freeze. We design for the site in front of us, not a catalog picture.

One team, start to finish
The people who draw the plan stay in touch with the people building it. Fewer handoffs mean fewer surprises once construction begins.

Build to be maintained
A garden that only looks right with a full-time gardener isn't a good design. We plan for the maintenance a normal household can actually keep up with.

Say no sometimes
Not every property needs the same scope of work. Part of the job is telling a client honestly when a smaller project is the better answer.

Materials chosen to age well.
We favor Texas limestone, steel, and warm woods — materials already at home in this landscape, that develop a patina rather than simply wearing out.
It's part of why a Willow & Stone garden from 2016 still reads as intentional today, rather than dated. Planting is chosen the same way: for how a bed will look in its fifth summer, not just its first.
