Lakeway Retreat

The clients bought the property for the lake view but found the existing patio, tucked close to the house, barely took advantage of it. We shifted the primary gathering area toward the property's edge, anchored by an open-sided gazebo sited specifically for sunset views over the water.

Because the lot sits within Lake Travis's shoreline setback, all new construction stayed outside the required buffer, with plantings inside that buffer limited to low native grasses and groundcover already approved for the shoreline. Lighting throughout is warm and low-level, run on a dimmer, since the clients specifically didn't want the space to compete with the view after dark.

A gravel path connects the gazebo back to the house, planted along its edges with agarita and flame acanthus to draw in the hummingbirds the clients had noticed on previous visits.
